MedSEA is a Creative Europe cooperation project that supports young artists from remote and underserved areas across the Mediterranean through socially engaged and community-based art practices. Bringing together a dynamic team of four organisations (Larnaka 2030 – Cyprus, Al Badil – Tunisia, Liv.in.g. – Italy, Busart – Greece), the project creates opportunities for international exchange, artistic collaboration, professional development, and sustainable cultural production.
Over a 20-month period, MedSEA will host 12 emerging artists in two four-week residencies in Larnaka (Cyprus) and Sfax (Tunisia). Working closely with local communities, the artists will co-create public artworks, performances, and participatory cultural activities that reflect local stories, concerns, and identities. The residencies will culminate in two community-based festivals developed together with residents and local organisations.

At its core, MedSEA aims to strengthen cultural participation, social cohesion, and wellbeing in communities with limited access to international cultural activity, while empowering artists to build sustainable careers within their own regions. The project will also produce research, documentation, and open-access resources to share new approaches and practices in socially engaged arts across Europe and the Mediterranean.
MedSEA is co-funded by the Creative Europe programme.
