Larnaka 2030 activates the whole city motivated by love and its expression on paper through the Larnaka's Love Letters project. The organization is spreading out thirty mailboxes in as many locations in the city and district, inviting citizens of all ages to write and send love letters throughout February, the most erotic month of the year. The number 30 is no coincidence since it symbolizes the year of the European Capital of Culture title. The mailboxes are provided by the Cyprus Post Office. The idea of Larnaka's Love Letters belongs to the journalist, creative writer and editor-in-chief of SkalaTimes, Yiota Demetriou, who has taken over the curation of the project.
The mailboxes have been placed in local businesses, meeting places and educational institutions thanks to the cooperation of the Ministry of Education for which we are grateful. This wide network of mailboxes will give people the opportunity to express their love to anyone or anything they wish. The name of the sender will not be a requirement as anonymity is expected to help ensure more entries. Letters can be addressed to a partner, spouse, boyfriend, girlfriend, mother, father, anyone, nature, even God himself, as long as they are love letters.
