The Cyprus Arts and Education (CARE) Festival is a dynamic new institution introduced by Λarnaca 2030 to the city's cultural events. It is a pan-Cypriot festival, which emerged from the public consultation with artists and educators in the "Arts for Children and Youth" working group. As a philosophy, and inspired by its acronym, the festival highlights and promotes the concept of care and concern for fellow human beings as a personal need and as an expression of social responsibility, setting the basis for a more interdependent and humane society.
The festival will take place every year for three days and include numerous activities with theatre performances, shadow theatre, storytelling, musical performances and workshops in storytelling, writing, visual expression and creative play. These activities act as a meeting, networking and exchange point between the educational community and artists working in the arts for children and young people. The aim is to enable teachers, at the start of the school year, to see a panorama of the options available which they can then use with their students.
CARE Festival came about through the close cooperation of the Pierides Museum, Larnaca 2030, the Larnaca District Cultural Foundation for Children and Youth, Youth Makerspace and the educational organisations OELMEK and POED.
It also activates different places in the city: the Municipal Garden, the Municipal Theatre "Georgios Lykourgos", the Municipal Library, the Youth Makerspace, the Pierides Museum, Zouchouri Square and the Pattichio Municipal Theatre Skala.
