As part of the activities of Larnaka 2030 – the organization leading the city’s bid to become the European Capital of Culture for the year 2030 – five interdisciplinary walks are being organized under the title “Pathkia Pathkia” across the communities of the newly established Municipality of Dromolaxia – Meneou.
Following our walks in Pervolia and Kiti, our next stop is Dromolaxia, on Saturday, 27 September.
In collaboration with artists, residents, and local organizations, we have co-created an open walk where local history is reconstructed through storytelling and artistic interventions.
We discover historical sites and cultural landmarks, while listening to stories that shed light on hidden aspects of the past and moments that shaped the everyday life of the community at the time. Through “Pathkia Pathkia”, the journey of Dromolaxia unfolds, with key thematic stops including: the evolution and importance of water, the Arab raids, the growth of the local population, the earthquake of the 1940s and the social and cultural changes that have shaped today’s community.
This experience aims to encourage reflection and inspire a collective vision for the future of the place.
